Once you have downloaded your new driver, you'll need to install it. In Windows, use a built-in utility called Device Manager, which allows you to see all of the devices recognized by your system, and the drivers associated with them.

Customization Software is Part of the Package. While the Yoke and Quadrant have 25 buttons and switch positions, you may want to fine-tune and customize your controls. For programming capability, download the drivers and software to start customizing. The Yoke features a three-position switch, so you can cycle through three complete profiles, with ease and speed, for a total number of 75 user-definable controls.

The TMC2208 is also used by the German manufacturer Watterott in their SilentStepStick stepper motor driver product series. However, there is very little information written in layman's/Maker's terms regarding how to actually wire up this stepper motor driver board, to a traditional Ramps 1.4 to 1.6 style Arduino shield, in order to use the feature of serial communications over UART to control the stepper motors. In this Instructable, I will try to alleviate this by taking you through a step-by-step setup of how to use a TMC2208 based SilentStepStick in a UART configuration on your 3D printer.
With these TMC2208-based SilentStepSticks, the only option really discussed anywhere on the web is for direct plug-and-play replacement of the Pololu A4988 drivers (which doesn't give you the benefits of the UART serial communication for control over your stepper motors), but the TMC2208 driver is actually capable of three different modes of operation in controlling the stepper motors of your 3D printer:
Hello,Thanks for your instructable, it is fantastic. I've followed it almost exactly and have managed to get 4 TMC2208 v3.0 working in my old Ramps 1.4. But I can only UART two of them (X-Axis and E0) since Y and Z axis refuse to establish the link; I've cheched thoughfully every electrical connection, many times, and evey wire is where and works as it should. I suspect there is a software issue in Marlin 2.0, perhaps something in my pin_ramps.h that prevents using the pins 40,42,64 and 44 (all or some of them) as it would be needed for this setup. I've found and commented out a few ocurrences of "defines" to this pins, compilied succesfully, but to no avail.I've been in this for a few days now, I can print better that before, and silently! but I would like to be able to, among other things, set the current by soft, as my setup is hard to manipulate with the screwdriver.I'm stuck with this 50/50 success, for now :-) I'appreciate any help or suggestion. Thanks in advance, best regards!

Oscar, I think you should also include that there is a dropbox link that allows you to directly download al the .hex files. I had to do this after not being able to successfully download the .hex using your instructions. Im not saying you are wrong or incorrect, as others have had success this way, but I did not. I suspect this might help others like me who know little about computer magic be able to use Betaflight. dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/31537757/cleanflight/betaflight/betaflight.zip
